:: Reunion 2012 recap

An amazingly successful Reunion 2012 peaked on Saturday evening with President Mark Roosevelt's State of the College address, Majora Carter's keynote speech, and, of course, the Div Dance featuring DJ Shane Creepingbear '08.

The Office of Advancement is pleased to announce that gifts and pledges received under the tent on Saturday night for the addition of solar panels on North Hall totaled $148,810!

Congratulations (and thank you!) to all faculty, staff, and students for helping put together Reunion 2012.

Stayed tuned to the website, Facebook page, and Twitter feed for more photos by Dennie Eagleson '71 from this weekend.

:: Welcome our newest faculty & staff

  • Rick Kraince, associate professor of cooperative education, started last week. His office is in South Hall on the 3rd floor.
  • Rev. Derrick Weston, director of the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom, also started on campus last week. His office is in the Coretta Scott King Center.
  • Michelle Rivera-Clonch, assistant professor of psychology, started two weeks ago. Her office is in McGregor Hall, 221.

If you see a new face around, make sure to extend a warm Antioch welcome.

:: Update on students in Poland

Some of the Antioch College students currently in Sejny, Poland, along with Assistant Professor of Visual Art Sara Black were able to Skype with a room full of Reunion 2012 attendees on Friday, June 15. Black spoke a little about the Poland Summer Travel Program the students are participating in titled “Making History: The Gwoździec Synagogue Replication Project.”

To read more about the involvement of Antioch College students in the project, visit the project's blog.

You can also visit Black's Flickr page to view hundreds of photos (taken by another project volunteer, Charlie Roderick, a professor at Harper College) from the trip and of the project.

The photos are updated daily. The students will be in Poland until June 25.

:: Antioch community invited to weekly meditation

Join meditation teachers Denise Runyon and Lynda Terry in abeautiful sacred space in the heart of the village for an hour of quiet reflection and meditation. Denise and Lynda have been meditating in the sanctuary every Sunday for months, working in harmony with Nature and with the Feminine energy that has drawn them there. They welcome all whose hearts are called to join them in these weekly sessions that have so nurtured their practice.

Sunday Morning Meditations at Spirit Woman Sanctuary
9:30 – 10:30 a.m., July 1 - September 16, 2012 (twelve weeks)
309 Xenia Avenue, Yellow Springs, Ohio
(The garden space behind Oten Gallery).

The format for the hour likely will evolve over the twelve weeks, but to begin, will include the following: introduction of a theme via a brief sharing, reading, song, or quote; a period of silent contemplation or prayer; a meditation facilitated by Denise or Lynda; time for sharing; and a closing blessing. All spiritual paths are welcome, and practices will arise from the stream of heartwaters that flow through all. They welcome those who appreciate the opportunity to gather with others for spiritual practice in a beautiful nature setting, in a quiet, respectful way.

For more information, contact either Denise (via e-mail or 937-767-2293) or Lynda (via e-mail or 937-767-1239).
