Last week, 15 alumni and friends completed another Volunteer Work Project. They worked on renovations in Birch Hall including painting, repairing cabinets, and replacing wiondow screens.

:: Alumni and Friends Gather for March 4-8 Volunteer Work Project

On March 4-8, eighteen alumni and friends, including three Alumni Board members, convened on campus for another Volunteer Work Project. With the class of 2015 away on co-op, Birch Hall was available to receive a paint job and some needed repairs. Volunteers painted walls and doors, repaired cabinets, installed shower stall dividers, repaired door hardware, installed missing window screens, cleaned, assisted in the library, and more! Thanks to Helen Welford ’69 and Louise Meller ’67 volunteers ate three delicious, home-cooked meals each day.

Thank you to our many dedicated volunteers, who during the March Work Project gave more than 500 hours of service to the College!

Volunteer Work Projects take place in January, March, June, and October. Local volunteers also meet monthly to continue work on projects around campus. :: Students needed for PAID work over break

Attention students! Staying near Yellow Springs through the upcoming break? Would you like to make some extra cash while helping the College? We’re looking for students to help make fundraising calls as part of our Million Dollar March effort March 25–29 and April 1–5. Hours are flexible and training will be provided. These calls are a fun way to connect with alumni and help raise important funds for the College. If interested in participating, please contact Eric Miller at at

:: President’s Office hosts Dine ’n Dish

Join Mark Roosevelt for Dine ’n Dish, on Thursday, March 21, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. at North Dining Hall, for an informal discussion about campus life, student issues, and Antioch’s future.

Please, come as you are and enjoy some delicious desserts after dinner, then share what’s on your mind.

:: Antioch Kitchens NEEDS student workers

Antioch Kitchens will begin excepting student workers for the spring term effective immediately. Service for spring term begins Saturday April 6th at 5:00 p.m.

Please contact Isaac if you would like to sign up for an available shift or if you have not been employed by the Kitchen and would like to sign up.

We ask that you please sign up for at least two shifts per week (4 hours) and a maximum of 5 shifts per week (10 hours. Shifts are available on a first come basis.

Available shifts are as follows:

Monday through Friday


9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.

11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m.–close (7:00-7:15 p.m.)

Saturday and Sunday

10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.

5:00 p.m.– close (7:00-7:15 p.m.)

Tasks include but are not limited to washing and organizing dishes and equipment, daily dining room cleaning, kitchen cleaning, light food preparation, setting up and taking down the dining room, running errands and generally being helpful in the kitchen.

:: Performance by Louise Smith

Louise Smith will be showcasing her fifteen-minute performance piece One Don’t Operate Without the Other at the Glen Building during Voice and Speech class on Wednesday, March 20, at 3:00 p.m. She recently performed in Cincinnati as part of the Performance Time Art series presented by Cincinnati Contemporary Dance Company. All are welcome.

:: Last Community Meeting of Winter 2013

Come and celebrate the end of the term and thank all those who served as assistant resident advisers, members of Comcil, on search committees, and as part-time workers.

:: Wish-lantern co-op goodbye

Thursday evening, March 21 at 7:45 p.m. on the old Antioch golf course, come observe this new tradition of sending out lanterns up into the sky and wishing all those going on co-op a safe, productive, and fun term on co-op!

:: Once upon a time event

This Wednesday, March 20, at 4:30 p.m. in the Glen Building, please join the language department for an afternoon of drama, song, and poetry in three languages performed by the students of Antioch College.

:: Farm looking for assistance over spring break

Want to chill with the chickens over spring break? The Antioch Farm is looking for two students to provide farm assistance 10 hours/week in exchange for housing in Case Commons from 3/23 to 4/6. Partial stays will be considered. Tasks include chicken and duck care, watering starts, greenhouse & plant care, and spring preparations. Students must be in good standing with community life, be responsible and like chickens. No experience necessary. Contact Kat Christen for more details at (937) 477-8654 or

:: Antioch College Menu and Dining Hall information

The North Hall Dining Room opens at 12:00 p.m. and we serve until lunch until 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. We ask that faculty, staff, and visitors offer $5.00, paid via the “honor system,” to a deposit safe located near the front entrance of the dining room. We also ask that shoes and shirts be worn in the dinning room at all times and that food not be taken “to-go” unless you are unable to join us for a meal during the established meal time. Thank you!

The Kitchen would like to reiterate that we need people hosting visitors or guests to please let us know by e-mail that they are bringing their guests to meals. This is primarily so we know how much food to purchase and cook and do not run out at meal time. Thank you for being considerate.
