Paula S. Meyer '54

Paula S. Meyer, MSW, devoted lifelong partner of George G. Meyer, M.D., passed Wednesday, June 12, 2013 surrounded by her family. She grew up in Annapolis, MD, attended Antioch College, and became a kindergarten teacher. After raising three sons, Paula received her Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and stayed on as faculty for five years. She then co-founded the Meyer Clinic with her husband and had a successful practice of 26 years in Marriage and Family therapy. Paula was happily married to her husband for 61 years and took great pride in the accomplishments of her children. She marched with Coretta Scott King in the Civil Rights movement. She was the past President of the PTA and Faculty Wives Club at UTHSC in San Antonio. Paula loved to read, staying up with current events and political activities and traveling to Hawaii. She loved participating in transcultural activities with her husband, especially living and working on American Indian Reservations. Paula was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rose Weinstein and her parents, Samuel and Dora Saslaw. She is survived by her husband, Dr. George G. Meyer; sons, Dr. Bruce A. Meyer and wife, Christie, Dr. Brian L. Meyer and wife, Sharla and Dr. Barry D. Meyer and wife, Karyn; grandchildren, Alex, Caitlin, Rebekah, Gillian, Nathaniel, Isaac, David, Rachel, Jessica, Jacob and Adam; sister, Rose Jackson and husband, Ron; sister-in-law, Eve Meyer Edlin and husband, Jim; niece and nephews, Gabriel Edlin, A.J.
