Kay S. DeLong of Walden died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Holland, MI. She was 78. The daughter of Charles and Minnie Nova Crosno Swart, she was born October 17, 1933 in Decatur, IL.
Kay was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County, the German American Club of Middletown, and the Toastmasters Assoc. International for over 20 years.
Kay was a teacher in various school districts. She taught parenting at the Good Samaritan in Walden, and was a counselor for Big Brothers and Big Sisters in Newburgh. She attended Antioch College.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. DeLong, at home; three sons: Philip Koopman of Pennsylvania, William D. DeLong and his wife, Debbie of Florida, and G. Winston DeLong and his wife, Patricia of Liverpool, NY; four daughters: Barbara Pignataro and her husband, John of Michigan, Beatrice Dane Marsan and her husband, Darryl of Maryland, Maya Bechtel and her husband, Ronald of Michigan, and Geanine Waterson and her husband, James of Hanawah Falls, NY; one brother, David Dickman of Phoenix, AZ, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Route 208, Walden. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church.
