Jean M. (Shore) Johns, 57, of Hatfield, died Friday, September 30, 2011 at Keystone Hospice House in Wyndmoor after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Edward Johns, her husband of 26 years. Born October 4, 1953 in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Bettina "Bettie" (Benn) Shore. Jean was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Med-Surg Oncology Department of Grand View Hospital for many years. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Temple University, Masters in Social Work from Antioch University in Maryland, and later received her RN Degree from Gwynedd-Mercy College in Lower Gwynedd. Jean was a dedicated member of Plains Mennonite Church. Her hobbies included birding, hiking, and camping with her family. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her sons, Eric C. Johns and Keith E. Johns, both of Hatfield; three brothers, Dr. David Shore of Bethesda, MD, Dr. Bill Shore and his wife, Diane Bessette, of Olney, MD, and Jeff Shore and his wife, Fusako, of Kyoto, Japan; her nephews, Evan Shore of Kyoto, and Nicholas Shore and his wife, Lew, and daughter Livi of Rapid City, SD; and her niece, Nancy Shore and her husband, Chuck Warpehoski, and daughter, Camille, of Ann Arbor, MI; and her former sister-in-law, Tina Shore of Maryland. The Memorial Service will be held at 4PM Sunday, Oct. 9, at Plains Mennonite Church, 50 W. Orvilla Road, Hatfield, PA 19440. Relatives and friends may call between 12:45 and 3:45PM Sunday. Burial will be private in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jean's memory to the Mennonite Education Plan, c/o Plains Mennonite Church, address above.
