ARUNDEL, Maine -- Edward C. Scott passed away unexpectedly while visiting family in Stillwater, Okla., on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012.
He was born on March 30, 1936, in Red Bud, Ill., the son of Abbott Charles and Frances Crow Scott. After graduating from Sparta High School in Illinois, Ed earned his BA at Antioch College. He earned an MS in chemistry at Johns Hopkins University, and an M.ED at the University of New Hampshire. Before Ed moved to Maine, he taught at the Dundulk School in Baltimore, Md. When he moved to Maine he started a long career with the State of Maine Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation. At the time of his retirement in 1996, he was the VR Regional Manager for Cumberland and York Counties, a position he held for close to 25 years. He was a member of the National Rehab Association, was on the board of the Maine Rehab Association, and on boards for several local nonprofit agencies. In retirement Ed was on The Council of York County Senior College and co-chaired the curriculum committee. When he wasn't volunteering his time for Senior College, he enjoyed travel, auctions, art, and spending time with family and extended family. He participated in and won with the Senior team of Odyssey of the Mind and was a charter member of Seniors Acting Up at the City Theater in Biddeford. Many of his house guests, friends and family were able to enjoy what he called his 'Bed and Breakfast' and his tours of the coast of Southern Maine.
Ed is survived by many lifelong friends; and his three brothers, Roy Scott of Stillwater, Okla., David Scott of Springfield, Mo., and Charlie Scott of McQueeny, Texas.
