A scholar-practitioner, Lori comes to us with 20 years of experience in higher education, community-based service-learning, consulting and grant writing with not-for-profits. Coming to us from Hartwick College in Oneonta NY, where she was a member of the Sociology Department, Lori was promoted to Professor in 2009, served as Chair of the Sociology Department for the past seven years, and led the burgeoning assessment initiatives as the College’s Assessment Support Coordinator.
Lori brings valuable experience in assessment and accreditation, having served on Hartwick’s self-study team, as a Middle States evaluator, and as an assessment consultant to other institutions. In September 2009 she was accepted for a prestigious fellowship as a Teagle Assessment Scholar, recognizing her significant contribution to assessment and program evaluation in higher education and at Hartwick. In this role, and as a nationally recognized Teagle Assessment Scholar, she serves to promote and support institutional and program-level assessment on a national level.
Lori’s scholarship focuses on applied research for the purposes of creating change, and exemplifies the links between theory and practice. Her early research examines the impact of domestic violence on children, culminating in the development of local programs to address the unique needs of child victims of domestic and partner violence. Her scholarship includes evaluation research projects for federal, state and local community not-for-profit and legal agencies in the areas of education, domestic violence, juvenile and family court, and juvenile drug prevention and rehabilitation. Lori received her Ph.D. in Sociology from the State University of New York at Albany.
